el pescador fish market- SAN DIEGO

November 2, 2011

After a weekend with the boyfriend in Las Vegas, I drove from LA to San Diego to visit my bestie! We grew up together with a passion for food that started when we were in middle school and we ate at a pasta joint almost EVERYDAY after school. Eventually we became serious Seafoodtarians. Thanks to Yelp, we found the perfect place to grab a quick bite of seafood at the popular El Pescador Fish Market in La Jolla.

We ordered and waited 10-15 minutes for tables to free up. The place isn’t big and fits only a few tables and it does get quite crowded.

Clam Chowder
My friend ordered the clam chowder which she really enjoyed. Creamy and Lots of potatoes.

Shrimp Cocktail
Big and fresh shrimps with a really delicious sauce. They obviously had some cleaning issues as seen above..

Sea Bass Sandwich
This was SOOOO good. It was cooked perfectly for reasons why people choose sea bass as their favorite fish! It’s texture is just so different than other typical fish meats. Although the fish was juicy and tender, the sandwich lacked flavor and i was desperately wanting some ketchup in my sandwich.

Salmon Burger
I’m still trying to find a salmon burger that tastes as good as the salmon burger from Go Fish Ocean Emporium in Vancouver, but I haven’t found it yet. This was pretty good but heavy on the mayo and it also screamed for ketchup. I do however eat everything Western with ketchup.

The sandwiches and burgers at the El Pescador Fish Market is a pretty messy eat but that’s the joy of it. It’s quick, fresh, reasonable, and delicious! This will be my first lunch spot in San Diego next time I visit.
