this italian restaurant by yaletown is truly a hidden gem. our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable. he practically painted a picture for us when describing the specials in his italian accent rawr. nonetheless, the food was delicious and it did not disappoint.
our waiter asked if we wanted to have some bread to start after he took our order. we said yes thinking it was complimentary and were caught off guard when it showed up on the bill. regardless, we weren’t too bothered because it was REALLY good. it’s like a mini pizza with cheese, tomatoes, and olive oil, and the bread’s fluffy and pillow-like texture was just eccelente. if i wasn’t watching my diet, i could easily eat ten of these. yum.
corntorni- grilled local scallop ($6)
loved the texture and smoky flavor.
rucula salad/orange & balsamic vinaigrette ($9)
veal carpaccio ($18)
my friend really enjoyed her dish but found the portion size too small.
i didnt get to try this but my friend wiped her plate clean.
spaghetti w/parmesan & tomato sauce (added scallop)
my girlfriend who is still recovering from her cold and suffering from a loss of taste for the past few days really appreciated that her pasta dish was full of flavors. she says her “tomato sauce was done to perfection!”
a lovely evening with good company and food.
lupo is a good choice for dinner and it certainly won’t be our last visit!
