BLD (breakfast. lunch. dinner)- LOS ANGELES

February 26, 2011

i love having brunch especially when it’s sunny. gotta love cali weather!

latte ($3.50), hot chocolate w/soy ($3), fresh orange juice ($4.50)
we waited quite a while for our drinks to come. my hot chocolate was rich but not mixed well.
vegan tomato soup ($8)- delicious but more on the sour side

house cured salmon benedict/ wilted baby spinach, house made english muffin, hollandaise, choice of potatoes ($17)-
their fries are REALLY good. i hear that they bake all their breads but this english muffin was too hard on the teeth

house made tuna salad sandwich/ roasted garlic aioli, mixed greens, sourdough bread, french fries or salad ($14)

they toasted the sourdough bread which my friend found too crispy. he also found the tuna salad to be dry.

house smoked turkey pastrami sandwich/ herb pistachio goat cheese, cranberry aioli, wild arugula, french fries or salad ($16)
unlike my friend, i actually prefer the crispy bread but my turkey pastrami was also really dry and i didn’t taste much of the cranberry aioli either. also, the waiter got my order when i ordered the salad instead of fries.

the total came up to be $72.43 which is pretty steep for brunch!

i’m glad i had the BLD experience but i won’t be returning. the drinks & food took forever and the quality of food wasn’t worth the wait. however i did like the wine bar, decor, and atmosphere.
