la brasserie- VANCOUVER
celebrating b & i’s 29 months together and his last day in vancouver, we went to la brasserie on davie street for a romantic dinner. i learned about la brasserie when i walked past it numerous times after having dinner at mis trucos a block down. the busy restaurant caught my attention with its small but intimate space, open kitchen & bar, and candlelight candles- a perfect spot to drink and dine. it bummed us out that they didn’t take reservations so we decided to head over there early and try our luck. thankfully, it was our lucky day!
complimentary bread w/ butter and pate
> we finished all our bread
onion soup ($10)
> this is the riches and darkest onion soup iv’e ever had and im not sure if thats a good thing. i thought the soup might have been the german way of making, but it turns out that german onion soup is actually a clearer and lighter version of the french! nevertheless, the soup base was salty and way too much balsamic vinegar was added. on a positive note, there was A LOT of onions, and the cheese was thick and delightful
free range rotisserie chicken w/ pommes frites, caramelized garlic jus ($21)
> my entree was huge but i was in HEAVEN. so tender and so delicious!
rotisserie prime rib ($28)
> i only had one bite of this but my steak-loving boyfriend devoured his steak, vegetables , and mashed potatoes. he nodded while he ate his meat all the way through.
takeout of my substitution for vegetable side – how cute and thoughtful
+ i cant wait to come back and try other things on the menu..especially the ginormous brasserie burger!
