boudin sourdough bakery- fisherman’s wharf, SAN FRANCISCO

December 15, 2011

You certainly haven’t been to the SF pier if you don’t know where Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Cafe is. It’s one of those places where you’ll hear tourists miles away go “woo” and “ahh” over the turtle shaped sourdough breads on display. You’ve also probably seen a picture of those adorable edible critters in so-and-so’s Facebook album (and mine). Yup, Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Cafe has become a tourist attraction for their clam chowder in sourdough bread. Want something more than clam chowder and bread? Then head upstairs to the bistro overlooking the pier and indulge in some comforting West coast seafood.

Complimentary Sourdough Bread

Clam Chowder w/o Breadbowl ($7.95)

Crab & Corn Bisque w/o Breadbowl ($7.95)

Dungeness Crab, Spinach, and Artichoke Dip- creamy parmesan dip baked in a sourdough bread with slices of crispy garlic butter bread ($12.95)
It doesn’t get any better than this…. calories calories and calories : ) The only thing I really remembered from this meal.

Dungeness Crab & Shrimp Pizza- pasta, mozzarella and tomato confit ($15.95)

Charred 14oz Ribeye- smoked onion and butter grilled with salt and black pepper with blue cheese scalloped potatoes ($29.95)

Do make reservations before arrival! Mediocre food and service, but the location and laid-back family friendly atmosphere makes up for it.
